160 Camera Checklist for Sony Alpha 3000:
When you get a camera from the cabinet:
• Sign out your specific camera (and spare battery) by number with your TA • Check for an SD card - if there isn't one tell your instructor ASAP• Check there is a battery in the camera, make sure it is charged!

• Find your location, set your light source, set up the shot
• Make sure shutter speed is still set to 1/50 for 24 fps or 1/60 for 30 fps• Set your ISO according to light (remember, the lower the number, the less sensitivity to light - a very

• Check your focus; you may need to focus throughout the shot
• To record movies, press the MOVIE button to start recording. Press the MOVIE button again to stop

• 16:9 aspect ratio (1920x1080) • 30 fps (60i) @ 17mbps, OR
• 24 fps (24p) @ 17mbps• ISO 400 OR 800 to start
• White balance on AWB
These setting numbers (shutter speed, frame rate, etc.) are suggestions to get you started. If you decide to work with a different frame rate or other shutter speed that is more appropriate to the work you want to create, please feel free! But the steps and order of things to check when starting the shoot are a helpful guideline worth remembering.

You can also turn on a grid to help you compose shots, if that's helpful. (menu> grid line)
When changing location, remember to turn the camera off to preserve battery power. You can choose power saving mode options under menu> setup> power saveSet up the shot thoroughly, and r�hearse any camera movement or character movement/coordination before shooting.
